Educational Opportunities

• The Fulbright Research Scholarship Program provides Tajikistani academics with support for one or two academic semesters of research in the United States. We are no longer accepting applications for 2009-2010. For additional information, please visit http://www.cies.org/about_fulb.htm.
• The Fulbright Visiting Student Program sends Tajikistani university graduated to the United States for master’s degree. The application season for the 2009-2010 Fulbright Visiting Student Program has concluded. For additional information, please visit http://fulbright.state.gov.
• The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program is designed for mid-career professionals, who spend an academic year attending courses and conducting research in a chosen field in the United States. • The Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) provides an opportunity for high school students from the countries of the former Soviet Union to experience life in American society in order to promote democratic values and institutions in Eurasia. The recruitment and selection process for this program is conducted by the American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS. • The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD) allows university students to spend one year of non-degree undergraduate study in the United States in the fields of accounting, agriculture, American studies, business, computer science, criminal justice, economics, education, environmental management, hospitality management, international relations, journalism and mass communication, law, political science, psychology, and sociology. • The Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program provides Tajik citizens with the opportunity to pursue graduate study at the Master’s level in the United States. For more information, please contact IREX http://www.irex.org/programs/muskie/index.asp
• The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant program, funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is aimed at strengthening foreign language instruction at U.S. colleges and universities, and some high schools while providing future foreign teachers of English with the opportunity to refine their skills, increase their English language proficiency and extend their knowledge of U.S. society and culture.  FLTA fellows spend nine months serving as teaching assistants at U.S. educational institutions while also taking courses in English language teaching and U.S. studies as non-degree students.  For more information, please click on the link

• The Eurasia/South Asia Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA) provides secondary school teachers with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills, and increase their knowledge about the United States. The participants will travel to the United States to participate in a 6-week professional development program at a U.S. university. The professional development program will include coursework and intensive training in teaching methodologies, curriculum writing, teaching strategies for the participants’ home environment, educational leadership, as well as the use of computers for Internet, word processing, and as teaching tools. The program also will include a 2 to 3-week internship at a secondary school to actively engage participants with American teachers and students. • The Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) provides university instructors with a semester-long opportunity to expand their knowledge and expertise in their academic field by attending classes and working with faculty members at universities in the United States.
