Senior Law Enforcement Advisor
International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program
The primary role of the State Department Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) funded Senior Law Enforcement Advisor (SLEA) is to serve as an advisor to the Ambassador and the American Embassy Dushanbe on law enforcement, counternarcotics, counterterrorism, and border security issues in Tajikistan with additional responsibilities of:
- Assist in the development of operational and organizational law enforcement, border, counternarcotics, counterterrorism, trafficking in persons (TIP) strategies and initiatives with executive level Tajikistan ministries and law enforcement counterparts
- Provide technical and programmatic assistance through the management of Department of State INL funded programs
- Assist or provide counsel on the development of professional law enforcement standards, curriculum and academy institutions within the framework of democratic principles and rule of law
- Active and integral member of the international law enforcement donor community
The primary Tajik law enforcement partners of the SLEA are the Tajikistan Border Guards, Drug Control Agency, and the Ministry of Interior, through direct management of INL programs and through project implementers funded by INL such as the UNODC, IOM, UNTOP, and ABA CEELI.
